Q. Can I keep (migrate) my current phone number?

Yes.  It is now possible to port all BT geographic area code telephone numbers. Non-geographic BT numbers beginning with 08 (e.g 0800, 0870, 0845) can also be ported, as can 08 numbers supplied by Energis.

Porting BT, Energis, Virgin Media (Telewest/NTL) numbers

To port a BT, Energis or Virgin Media number to VoIP, we require the following (please note that all downloadable forms on this page are in MS Word format):

·          Completed & signed Porting Order Form

·          Copy of front page of BT (or Energis or Virgin/Telewest/NTL) bill for the number(s) to be ported.

·          Fax all documents to 08700 631511, scan & email to info@expat-email.com, or send to Expat Email Ltd, PO Box 9, Winterslow, Salisbury  SP5 1WZ.

The following circumstances will not prevent the export of a number:

·          Change Number Interception (CNI)

·          Permanent call diversion

The following circumstances will prevent the export of a number:

·          Numbers associated with a temporary service

·          Inactive numbers

·          A non-BT account number (unless with another VoIP provider*)

·          A non-BT provided number, for example an NTL supplied number ported to BT (unless with another VoIP provider*)

·          Numbers being used for BT Redcare (or other security providers), which will have to be removed first

* To port a SIP number we would require a letter of authorisation from the losing provider and also the letter of authorisation customer.

Porting VoIP numbers from other providers

We are able to port numbers from some existing VoIP providers such as Sipgate (providing you have their agreement to do so.)

This takes up to 3 days to complete once permission is granted.

If you have a number from another VoIP provider that you would like to port, please print off, complete, sign and fax the following VoIP Provider Number Porting Form to 08700 631511.

At present we are unable to port any numbers from NTL.
